WRC and the Vasha craze are over. July is here with the entire family, and you really don’t have many options, do you?

When was the last time you took a good, hard look at your power bill? Like, actually read through the different parts of it? If your answer is “Never,” you’re not alone. Welcome on board. Fasten your seat belts, and get ready for a little safari starting this weekend. It will be fast and concise, as we unravel some facets of electricity. It will get demanding, probably as we begin to add fuel and a few more statistical variables in the mix, so expect rough and rocky roads as well as the potential for rainy weather, this time just not at the shores of Lake Naivasha.

We invite you to grab a copy of your latest bill and a bottle of water, tea if you like or whatever works for you, it really doesn’t matter. Start by paying a little more attention to the components of your bill such as previous and current meter readings. Spot the difference? See, the value recorded under units represents your actual electricity consumption for a given period.

Your meter works pretty much the same way as a rally car’s odometer. The values on the odometer increase when the car starts moving right? Precisely. Likewise, your electricity meter starts moving (or measuring) the consumption of electricity used by your household as current flows through it. Understanding how to read your electricity bill can bring about major benefits, including that of earning you the extra saving you need to set aside for 2022’s season of WRC, or your next girls-only vacation, huh?

Shh! If you close your eyes now you can feel the gentle rise and fall of the road beneath us, right? Tell you what…you cannot imagine what is in store, but it isn’t as bad as things could be. This ride, this car, this meeting – they have found a use for both you and me, and somewhere at the end of this road is the answer we are all struggling to get, that clear understanding of what goes into your power bill, that question lingering at the back of your mind…Am I getting value from Kenya Power?

You see, it is the finishing line for WRC’s Carlo Tundo, the starting line for others, that’s the way the spectacle works. As we power down, others power-up, and together we go the distance, ever ready to race again if called upon.
