KEY POINTS

All teachers who are employed by the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) have till midnight to submit their term three Teachers Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) rating submitted online.

All teachers who are employed by the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) have till midnight to submit their term three Teachers Performance Appraisal and Development (TPAD) rating submitted online.

In 2015, TSC launched the TPAD tool and later moved it online in 2016. The Commission enhanced the tool in 2019 by incorporating other tools including Teacher Professional Development (TPD) modules. Last month, TSC opened the online TPAD2 for a third-term activation filling.

Teachers are supposed to fill, finish, and submit TPAD ratings for term three by 23rd July 2021 according to TSC.

In May 2021, TSC blacklisted a total of 2,349 primary teachers and another 827 high school teachers for failing to work out their TPAD tool on time. Teachers had varied offenses leading to their listings.

They said teachers either had a TPAD awaiting submission or appraisal or countersigning by the school head or the TPAD was incomplete.

Teachers were given until 6th April 2021 to ensure they are fully appraised, and the rating submitted online. The Commission officially closed the submission of term two TPAD on 16th April.

To be safe, teachers must understand and stick to the TPAD calendar of activities to avoid the last-minute rush

Teachers are required to plan meetings before school opening involving all staff to set the school TPAD activity calendar. The meeting should happen before the last week of the school holiday and be attended by all teachers including the school head.

Heads of institutions should ensure teachers avail their professional documents during the first week after reopening for approval.

Teachers should start undertaking lessons observation from the second week and identifying and documenting teachers’ professional gaps. This is a continuous process going through to the tenth week.
