European 2022 World Cup Qualifiers Are On Today

Saturday 9 October is headlined by England traveling to Andorra and looking to claim what should be a straightforward three points, though manager Gareth Southgate has warned against complacency. “We’ve got to get next month right because given the points we dropped [in Poland] we’re still not assured of our place yet,” said the Three Lions boss.

Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand recently expressed his hope that he will see Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest in their opening game of Euro 2020 earlier this year, back on the playing pitch in the future.

Eriksen’s situation remains up in the air as health considerations are still hard to determine less than four months after his heart attack, but his return would be inspiring to many, including his coach: “The most important thing is that Christian is okay,” Hjulmand said. “We are all incredibly happy about that. We’ll see what happens..”

He added, “It would obviously be a dream for Christian to come back. But even if he wanted to do something different, that would be great for us. The only thing that matters is what he wants to do, what is best for him and his family. I will support every decision he and his family make. We are just happy that he is still with us, that we can call him, see him and meet him.”
