Nairobi Listed as Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination

Nairobi city has been ranked as Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination by World Travel Awards, toppling other cities in the continent.

The Kenyan capital rolled on top of other contestant countries like Accra, Cairo, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Lagos, and Pretoria.

World Travel Awards (WTA) is a leading global authority that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel, tourism, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E), and business events.

Kenyatta International Convention Center was named as the Africa’s Leading Meeting and Conference Center during the awards.

Kenya Airways was named Africa’s Leading Airline in 2021 and Africa’s best in the Business Class category while Cape Town was named Africa’s leading airport. Ethiopia Airlines, however, was feted the continent’s leading airline brand and Africa’s leading Airline- economy class categories.

The prestigious and coveted awards also saw Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club being listed as the continent’s Leading Hotel with Hemingways Watamu holding the title in the beach resort awards.

On the other hand, The Norfolk was crowned the 2021’s best city hotel as Olare Mara made it to the top of the best Luxury Tented Safari Camp.

The award for Africa’s Leading Sports Resort was won by Ocean Sports Resort located in Watamu.

These wins make great positives for the tourism sector in Kenya. The country’s tourism board, incidentally ranked the best in Africa for the eighth time in ten years.

KTB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Betty Radier, said that the wins would help the board market the country better and bring forth more revenue.

World Travel Awards, Africa and Indian Ocean 2021 Awards which are held annually to celebrate top brands and services across the tourism and hospitality sector uses qualified executives working within the travel and tourism industry and the consumer buyer to select the brands.

“Our winners represent the very best of travel and hospitality in Africa and the Indian Ocean and my congratulations to each of them. They are all playing starring roles in spearheading the travel and tourism recovery,”, Founder, World Travel Awards  Graham Cooke said.
