Equity Turnover Drops 33.65% To Close At USD 3.82 Million

Wednesday saw the Kenyan shilling continue with its weakening trends against global currencies; the US Dollar, the British Pound, and the Euro. Against the Dollar, the shilling fell 0.01 percent to close at 113.64, a 0.44 percent weaker on a year-to-date.

Against the British Pound, the local currency shed off 0.08 percent to close at 153.81  shillings, a 1.08 percent weaker on a year-to-date. At the same time, the Kenyan shilling weakened 0.05 percent to close at 129.07, a 0.84 percent weaker on a year-to-date against the EURO.

On Wednesday, the total equity turnover declined 33.65 percent to close at USD 3.82 million (434.06 million shillings) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 5.76 million (654.17 million shillings).

The NSE 20 and NASI gained 0.24 and 0.56 percent to close at 1,900.71 and 165.95, respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 60.82 percent of total market purchases and 49.26 percent of total market sales.
