Now, say you have been registered without your consent, how do you get deregistered? Deregistration is not an easy task and mostly you may give up along the way because of the process and frustrations.

The first option requires you to write a letter of resignation opting out of that particular party and then copying it to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties. This often doesn’t work because no political party would let you leave. You are at their mercy.

The other option is to write an objection to the party and copy the letter to the registrar’s office, where the matter will be followed up promptly to ensure you have been deregistered. Also, the political parties might ignore this unless the Registrar of Political Parties orders them to.
