Kitui Senator Enock Wambua has said that the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) is not joining the Azimio la Umoja but has just opened doors for negotiation with the party. In his remarks, Wambua warned people against jumping into non – existing conclusions.
“The main reason I am here is to put the record straight. OKA is not joining Azimio la Umoja. My party leader Kalonzo said OKA was opening doors for negotiations not joining Azimio. We in Wiper and OKA are not joining Azimio. The ultimate result might be the Azimio-OKA alliance, but the discussions might end in whatever way. OKA cannot and will not be swallowed by Azimio,’’ he said.
According to the OKA principles, the two coalitions had joined forces and each proposed a presidential candidate whom they will reveal in a few weeks’ time.
Wambua said that it was Kalonzo’s choice to attend the Jubilee National Delegates Conference at KICC but missed in action at the ODM’s Kasarani event. The OKA’s invitation to the NDC meeting came a day after the wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced entry into the Azimio la Umoja.
‘’Kalonzo was invited to both the ODM and Jubilee NDC. He chose to attend Jubilee’s NDC and sent representatives to the ODM NDC at Kasarani. It was his choice to make,’’ Wambua added.
Other leaders from Ukambani led by the three governors, Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, Dr. Alfred Mutua, and Charity Ngilu are in the front line to back Odinga’s presidential bid.
One Kenya Alliance (OKA) postponed a meeting that was scheduled for Monday, February 28, 2022, that involved signing and handing over the coalition to the office of the registrar of political parties. OKA spokesperson Fredrick Okango said the meeting was rescheduled to a later date this week to allow more interested parties to join them.
The alliance which is led by wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua (Narc Kenya), Sen Gideon Moi (KANU), and Cyrus Jirongo (UDP), said that they have received several requests from various political parties seeking to join them.
