TSC Is Set To Give Retired School Heads 2-Year Contract Extension

According to TSC CEO, Dr. Nancy Macharia, School heads who are retiring this year have been offered a chance to extend their contract terms for two years.
She went on to say that the government has been investing cash to employ interns teachers since 2019. A total of 28,000 interns have worked for the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, so far.
However, the offer is not a mandatory one but one that will be optional for heads of schools who are retiring.
“Since most of the Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted and pandemic eased, TSC will now release the affected principals and fill in their positions competitively ahead of the resumption of the normal academic calendar circle in January 2023,” she said.
TSC CEO said that teachers’ principals offered to remain in service for an extended period to help them to stabilize their schools to ensure academic programs run uninterrupted. She also expressed confidence in the teachers’ ability to welcome kids to Junior Secondary.

If this was to continue, classroom teachers or deputy’s heads will retire without occupying the principal’s office simply because their positions were taken by others.
This latest confirmation that these heads will finally retire is a signal to those interested in the positions to start preparing their documents for replacement positions, which will be advertised soon
All candidates qualified for grade 6, class 8, and form 4 will sit for their tests in November and December this year. They will also require to register between April 27 and March 14, 2022, according to KNEC CEO Dr. David Njenge’ere.
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government would continue to pay examination fees for youngsters in both public and private schools. Since 2016, this has been the case.
