Asante Financial Services Group Recognized as the Neobank Rising Star in East Africa

Asante Financial Services Group has been named the “Neobank Rising Star – East Africa” by the recently concluded Africa Bank 4.0 Awards.

The Group received recognition under the category of Banking and Leadership Awards in a ceremony on Thursday, 26 May 2022, at the Movenpick Hotel & Residences in Nairobi, Kenya.

The award was conferred to Asante for its contribution to SME financing and for being among the pioneers and visionaries going the extra mile to transform the Fintech industry and making access to finance in Africa accessible, innovative, convenient, and affordable.

Speaking during the award ceremony, Chidi Okpala, CEO – of Asante Financial Services Group, thanked the fraternity for the recognition noting that it goes a long in cementing the Group’s resolve to provide better and enhanced digital inclusion in East Africa.

“While the Covid-19 pandemic crippled many economies, it also opened up avenues for accelerated digital transformation in financial services. We hope to ride on this trend to ensure that our digital strategy and regional presence continue to drive financial inclusion and SME financing and to play a catalytic role in championing the socio-economic prosperity of the people of East Africa and beyond,” he said.

The Africa Bank 4.0 Awards took place on the back of the 8th African Bank 4.0 Summit – CEO Exclusive, a premium event that brought policymakers and higher authorities from Africa’s banking and fintech sectors.

The summit included a five-day workshop and forums to discuss the way forward for progressing Africa during these uncertain times by advancing digital inclusion on the continent.

Together with senior officials from the financial services sector, the summit also drew ministerial officials from relevant government bodies and regulators who participated in charting Africa’s digital banking future.

The 8th African Bank Summit 4.0 and Africa Bank 4.0 Awards were organized by BII World, a specialist provider of educational, research, and consulting solutions to corporate and governmental organizations. It was powered by Network International, a provider of technology-enabled payment solutions to merchants and financial solutions in the Middle East and Africa.
