Grade 6 to Sit For Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) From November 28

According to a timetable released by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), The pioneer grade 6 pupils will sit for their KPSEA, under the Competency-Based Curriculum beginning 28th November 2022.

About 1.24 million students, who will be the first cohort of learners to join Junior Secondary in January 2023 under CBC are expected to be assessed before then.

As per the official 2022-23 KNECK timetable, the pupils will tackle Mathematics and English on the first day followed by Integrated Science (Science and Technology, Agriculture, Home Science, and Physical and Health Education). Kiswahili will be handled on the second day.

The third day will see the pupils undertake Art and Craft, Music and Religious Education and on the fourth and final day, they will sit for Creative Art and Social Studies subject.

The students will be rated out of 40 percent in the KPSEA, as compared to the current 100 percent in the 8-4-4 system.

The other 60 percent will be rated from the classroom-based continuous assessment tests conducted in grades 4,5 and 6.

Just like in the KCPE and KCSE, exam irregularities will not be treated lightly and any candidate caught cheating will have their results for the subject cancelled.

The grade pupils will be replacing the current class eight candidates as they transition to the secondary level.

The learners will then proceed to junior secondary in January at approximately age 12 and exit to grade 9 at about age 14 years.

After this, they will join senior secondary for grades 10, 11, and 12 education.
