The Kenya National Education Council (KNEC) has introduced a system where parents, teachers, and students can conveniently verify registration details for 2022 Grade 6, Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCSE) candidates.

“By sending an SMS to 20076, headteachers, parents, and candidates can now confirm the registration details for the 2022 KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE tests”, KNEC stated.

To check the details, use the procedure below:

  • Note down your child’s KCSE/KCPE/KPSEA INDEX NUMBER
  • Compose a text and send the index to 20076
  • You will get an SMS NOTIFICATION with the full details of the student and school
  • For example, KCPE36611030002, and send to 20076

The examination body issued a statement advising school administrators and parents to double-check that their students have been properly registered for the November and December exams.

Education CS Prof George Magoha issued a warning to headteachers demanding registration fees for the set examination, citing that the government has already paid for the same.

“To the headteachers and principals, we are disappointed that you have yet to start registering students and pupils for the forthcoming KPSEA, KCPE, and KCSE exams which must be ready.

“Please ensure that every child is registered. I hope we are not going to argue about this. The government is paying exam fees for all students. It is the children’s right,” he stated.

The Cs further stated that there will be no extension of the registration deadline set for May 14, 2022.

“When I look at the KNEC portal, I get discouraged. Our headteachers and principals think that we will extend the registration deadline.”
