Susan Younis is the new chief marketing officer of Mara, a Pan–African crypto exchange platform. Her new role in the company is to oversee end-to-end brand awareness, guide the marketing teams to develop strategy and lead Mara, into a digital finance and crypto market leader across Africa.

“I am thrilled to be joining Mara at such a critical time of transformation for the crypto economy in Africa. The team has some of the most dynamic and forward-thinking executives in the business. I am honored to contribute my experience in leading our marketing efforts, as we grow across Africa. Thank you to Chi Nnadi for this wonderful opportunity!” said Younis.

Susan joins Mara from a similar role at Platoon, Apple’s creative artist services division that nurtures and builds the careers of independent artists where she oversaw marketing for African artists. She landed this job after leaving Warner Music Group where she worked as a marketing director. She also worked at MultiChoice, Africa’s leading entertainment company, and Viacom.

“Susan brings a wealth of experience and rigor to this role, having spent her entire career building brands across the globe.  Her type of knowledge is exactly what our organization needs now to scale across the African market, and I am looking forward to the team’s continued success under her leadership,” Mara Co-founder Chief Executive Officer Chi Nnadi said.

Last month, Mara successfully raised 2.7 billion shillings ($23M) to build a pan-African cryptocurrency exchange platform which also includes a crypto wallet from more than 100 crypto investors. The company launched its operation in Kenya in May.

The Mara Wallet will enable users to buy, send, sell and withdraw both fiat and crypto-assets instantly and without any prior crypto knowledge. This will allow users to send money in real-time, without any processing times or delays.

“Mara’s mission is to facilitate a more equitable distribution of capital by providing a decentralized alternative that spans across tribes, class, cultures, and countries,” co-founder and CEO of Mara Chi Nnadi said.
