The same Jamaa Cream bar soap quantity is 230 shillings at Naivas, 214 shillings at Carrefour, and 200 shillings at Cleanshelf.

Aerial Detergent Powder is retailing highest at Naivas Supermarket at 399 shillings for 1kg and 745 shillings for 2Kg. One kilogram of the same product retails at 395 shillings and 399 shillings per kilogram at Carrefour and Cleanshelf, respectively.

Concurrently, the cost of a 500Ml packet of Fresha Milk is 60 shillings at Cleanshelf, while 58 shillings and 57 shillings at Naivas and Carrefour, respectively.

Many people have shared their shopping lists, complaining that the sharp spike in prices of essential food items curtails their purchasing power.

Inflation for June 2022 came in at 7.9 per cent, the highest since August 2017 and an increase from the 7.1 per cent recorded in May. This was attributable to a 1.2, 1.5, and 0.9 per cent increase in the food and non-alcoholic beverages index, household and equipment, and transport index.
