Equity Turnover Spikes 155%, Shilling Still Down

Total equity turnover grew by 155.09 percent to close at USD 2.45 MN (KES 290.54 MN) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 0.96 MN (KES 113.90 MN).

NSE 20 and NASI grew by 1.02 and 1.41 percent to close at 1,676.18 and 138.51 respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 6.68% of total market purchases and 63.90 percent of total market sales.

EABL Earnings 

East African Breweries (EABL) released its FY22 results, reporting a 123.7 percent y-o-y upswing in after-tax profits to KES 15.6 BN.

Performance was supported by 27.3 percent y-o-y net revenue growth to KES 109.4 BN against an 8.6 percent y-o-y increase in the total cost of operations to KES 28.8 BN. Basic EPS jumped by 172.2 percent y-o-y to KES 15.00.

A final dividend of KES 7.25 per share was recommended, to be paid on or about 30th October 2022 to shareholders on the register as of 15th September 2022. This implies a total DPS of KES 11.00 vs nil dividend in FY21.
