Here Is A Full List Of 14,460 Shortlisted Teachers Released By TSC

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) on Tuesday, July 19, published the names of shortlisted candidates set to fill 14,460 vacancies across the country.

The TSC announced 5,000 new openings as well as an additional 8,230 positions to replace teachers who have departed the service due to attrition.

According to stats, more than 356,000 tutors applied for the roles, with post-primary teaching positions drawing the most interest after 219,311 teachers expressed interest in the 4,000 openings.

For the 1,000 openings, 136,833 primary school tutors applied. Additionally, the TSC received more than 327,882 applications for the 8,230 openings left by instructors who left due to attrition.

In order to fill the openings in Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir, the commission initially advertised 386 positions, with 114 for primary schools and 272 for secondary schools on contractual terms. TSC also used affirmative action targeting schools in drought-stricken counties like Mandera, Garissa, and Wajir.

“To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should be a Kenyan citizen, be hailing from Garissa, Mandera or Wajir Counties, be teaching under Board of Management in Garissa, Mandera or Wajir Counties,” read part of the notice.

According to a TSC roadmap for recruitment, the online application process closed on July 7 after which the candidates who will have been shortlisted will be published on the TSC website. This is expected to be done anytime this week.

The shortage of teachers in public schools reached 103,931 as of January of this year, according to TSC CEO Nancy Macharia. There is a shortfall in primary and secondary schools, according to Macharia, who spoke before the Senate Education Committee.

The Primary schools are short 46,109 instructors, while post-primary institutions are short 57,822 teachers, according to TSC statistics provided to the committee.

The Nation understands that, for each of the advertised positions, only the top five candidates will be shortlisted, in a departure from the past when long merit lists would be developed although only a few stood a chance of getting the job.

3. Out of the listed services, click the tab titled shortlisted applicants – July 2022.
4. Various documents categorized in multiple counties will be organized in a descending manner.
5. Select the document based on the county the teacher applied in and click download.
