Shilling Still Down, Equity Turnover Up 25%

The Kenyan shilling weakened 0.03 percent against the US Dollar to close at 118.03 shillings. However, the local currency strengthened 0.46 percent against the pound to close at 141.22. It also strengthened 0.70 percent against the Euro to close at 121.06.

Total equity turnover gained by 25.67 percent to close at USD 5.81 MN (686.26 million shillings) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 4.63 MN (546.09 million shillings). The NSE 20 and NASI gained 0.69 and 0.78 percent to close at 1,661.31 and 134.05.

KCB Mortgage

KCB Group has received 1.8 billion shillings from the Kenya Mortgage RefiKenya Power has indicated that it intends to offer fixed internet services before the end of the current financial year (FY22/23).

The venture into fixed internet services will be an advancement of its current model through which the company leases fiber-optic cables attached to its transmission lines to internet service providers.

Kenya Power has been piloting the fixed internet offering to a number of its corporate customers for the past few months.
