The general elections in Kenya are coming, and they are coming fast. President Uhuru Kenyatta has a few days left to enjoy the comfort of the Statehouse. It is a “high-stake” election for it involves a change of regime. It is a do-or-die for some politicians.

The main candidates in these elections are Raila Odinga of Azimio and William Ruto of Kenya Kwanza (UDA). Another one is George Wajackoya but he will come in third. Kenya will either have Raila Odinga or William Ruto as President.

These two candidates have promised “peace” and have said they will concede defeat “if the election will be open and fair.” This means, that if the outcome of the elections will not favor either, something might happen. Both have a huge diehard following.

In this election, it is safe to say that we hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Now, here are some of the things you must have in your house as we head into the election:

Tissue papers: Make sure you have enough to last you at least three weeks.

Food: Buy some rice, maize flour, long-life milk, beans, and maize. Do not forget to have cooking oil on the list. And just have them around. You never know.

Diapers: If you have a kid who uses diapers, please buy some extra just in case.

WiFi: During this period, you might have to work from home, and WiFi will come in handy.

Refill gas cylinders: Refill your gas cylinder or buy an extra one just to sustain you along.

Medicine for kids/some painkillers: Have some in the house for they might come in handy.

Booze: For those who drink, you may need to stock some booze to push you along.

Let us maintain peace during this election. Kenya is bigger than all of us. We need Kenya more than it needs us.
