This is a decrease of up to 5000 shillings about three months ago and an increase of more than double from an average of 4000 shillings six months ago.
Meanwhile, the 64-kilogram bag is retailing at an average market price of 6000 shillings across the country.
In Nairobi’s Uthiru market, traders are selling one medium-sized tomato fruit at 10 shillings up from 5 shillings three months ago.

As compared to the open-air markets, tomato prices vary across the different estates of Nairobi. Depending on the size and quality, in some estates, the traders sell one tomato fruit for 20 shillings, while others sell for 10 shillings or even 5 shillings.
At the same time, the price of a kilogram of red Tanzanian onions in Nairobi has reduced from an average of between 100 -200 shillings to between 55-90 shillings. A single onion retails between 10 and 15 shillings apart from small ones which are 5 shillings. The Kenyan type is retailing at 45 shillings.
A 13 kg net of dry Kenyan onions retailing at 850 shillings while the 10Kg bag is 700 shillings.
One sack of pili pili hoho is selling for 4,500 shillings while one piece is selling at 15 – 20 shillings up from 10 shillings a month ago.
