History As First Instagram Banking Is Launched In Kenya

Kenya has continued to make history as far as technology and catching up with the ever-changing trends is concerned. It is because of the tech evolution in Kenya that the country has, for more than 10 years, led others in financial inclusion.
Last week, the United Bank of Africa (UBA Kenya) launched Kenya’s first Instagram banking that is set to revolutionize and change how people interact and transact within and without the Kenyan banking space.
With over 2.7 million active Instagram users in Kenya, UBA Bank has dared to venture into the “very lives of youngsters” to tap into their entrepreneurial skills and creativity.
The Pan-African bank’s chat platform, known as Leo, will allow Kenyans to sign up for accounts, request a mini statement, top-up airtime, transfers money to an account or M-Pesa, check user balance, and live chat the bank’s customer fulfillment center.
“With over 2.7 million Instagram users in Kenya today, this innovative solution is aimed at attracting the youth by making banking fun and accessible,” said Mr. Chike Isiuwe, UBA Kenya Managing Director and CEO.
Mr. Chike added that UBA Kenya’s dream is to make banking fun and remove the traditional brick and mortar. He says it is only through that that “banking will be devolved” to reach everyone.
To use the Leo Instagram service, one is required to open an account with UBA Bank and the account linked to the IG platform. One can also search for the ‘officialubachatbanking’ verified handle on Instagram and simply send a direct message (DM) to Leo to begin the enrolment process.
How does one get to enjoy the service?
First, open an account at any UBA Bank Kenya Branch. Then open your Instagram and follow officialubachatbanking, a verified account. Then send a DM to Leo by just saying “Hi”. You will receive a DM on how to register for the service.
Immediately, you will have access to your bank account to transact, check your statement, transfer funds to M-Pesa, top-up airtime, and much more.
“UBA is in touch with your lifestyle and has found a way of making it more convenient for you to bank while on your Instagram! Leo is a product that has unique features set to change how people bank and transact,” said the lender in a statement.
Advantages of Leo Instagram Banking
Leo is easy and simple: All you need is to open an account with UBA Kenya, have an Instagram account, follow the UBA Kenya official page, send them a DM and you will be good to go.
Leo is free: Instagram, just like other social media platforms are free. Being an interactive platform, you do not have to leave it to look for your banking app if the transaction you need to make is within the listed ones.
High conversation rate: Instagram has been said to be one of the social media platforms with a higher conversion rate when it comes to sales. This makes it one of the most preferred tools for both small and big businesses. Do not leave your favorite app. Transact as you link up with fans and friends.
