Shilling Touched Its Lowest Bottom On Wednesday

Total equity turnover grew by 57.55 percent to close at USD 3.41 MN (KES 408.91 MN) compared to yesterday's turnover of USD 2.16 MN (KES 259.55 MN).

Exchange Rate Performance

The Kenyan shilling is still receiving a whopping from the US Dollar, falling to its lowest bottom on Wednesday. The local currency weakened 0.03 percent to close at 120.01 (-6.07 percent year-to-date).

The shilling was also on a losing spree against the Euro, weakening 0.17 percent to close at 120.09 (+6.17 percent year-to-date). However, it strengthened against the British Pound by 0.25 percent to close at 140.50 (+7.60 percent year-to-date).

Kenyan Stock Market

Total equity turnover grew by 57.55 percent to close at USD 3.41 MN (KES 408.91 MN) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 2.16 MN (KES 259.55 MN).

NSE 20 grew by 0.07 percent to close at 1,751.20 while NASI fell by 0.49 percent to close at 137.46.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 27.78 percent of total market purchases and 90.84 percent of total market sales.
