The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has withdrawn all of its teachers from a school in Kilifi County after an attack was made on some of its teachers.

One of the teachers, Michael Ngei, sustain serious injuries after he was attacked by a group of people at night at his home. Michael got a lot of panga cuts as persons identified as from the local community and staying within the school catchment confronted him at night in his home.

This incident made the TSC Sub–County Director respond by withdrawing all the teachers from Kadzandani Primary School in Kilifi after pressure from Kenya National Union of Teachers officials and complaints by the teachers.

A number of delocalized teachers who were also threatened have vowed not to go back to the school with some demanding transfer back to their home counties.

Initial investigations discovered that the community was not pleased and had blamed the teachers of Kadzandani for thieving food that was given to the school for the feeding program.

However, the chief condemned the incident saying people should not take action into their hands but follow the law in resolving disputes. Learning in the school is now ceased following the incident and after teachers complained and left their premises.

According to the union administrators, the program is hurtful and affects teachers and their families and the government should eliminate it. TSC introduced the policy 5 years ago saying it will improve national cohesion. The issue of delocalization is a hot potato with many teachers’ unions calling for its close.
