The Kenyan shilling dropped the lowest in history against the US Dollar on Tuesday according to stats from Dyer and Blair. The local currency weakened by 0.01 percent to close at 120.79 (-6.76 percent year-to-date).

Against the Pound, the shilling weakened by 0.57 percent to close at 135.37 (+10.97 percent year-to-date) while against the Euro, the currency weakened by 0.08 percent to close at 118.34 (+7.54 percent year-to-date).

Total equity turnover grew by 231.42 percent to close at USD 2.62 MN (316.23 million shillings) compared to Monday’s turnover of USD 0.79 MN (KES 95.42 MN). NSE 20 and NASI fell by 0.02 and 0.98 percent to close at 1,698.97 and 126.66, respectively.

Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 19.80% of total market purchases and 86.42% of total market sales.
