Exchange Rate Performance
The Kenyan shilling is still “seeing stars” against the US Dollar, the Pound, and the Euro. On Thursday, the shilling weakened 0.06 percent to close at 121.74 (-7.60 percent year-to-date). Against the Pound, it weakened 0.25 percent to close at 139.69 (+8.13 percent year-to-date).
At the same time, the local currency weakened 0.61 percent to close at 122.34 (+4.42 percent year-to-date).
Kenyan Stock Market
Total equity turnover dropped by 0.30 percent to close at USD 1.78 MN (216.86 million shillings) compared to yesterday’s turnover of USD 1.79 MN (217.52 million shillings).
NSE 20 fell by 0.12 percent to close at 1,667.34 while NASI grew by 0.65 percent to close at 128.74.
Foreign investors assumed a net selling position by accounting for 81.45% of total market purchases and 90.01% of total market sales.
