The value of unclaimed Bonga Points by Safaricom has hit 4.5 billion shillings. The giant telecommunications company has now introduced an expiry date as a way of encouraging Kenyans to redeem their points.
According to Safaricom, all Bonga Points will now expire after three years. This means that those with Bonga Points from December 2019, will lose them on January 2023, a move that the Telco says will jolt those with the points to redeem.
“Effective January 1, 2023, all Bonga points older than three years will expire and will be unavailable for redemption,” said Safaricom in updated terms and conditions for the loyalty program, with those who have many points told to redeem.

“Your Bonga points will also expire immediately in the event that your line has been deleted as a result of inactivity and in accordance with the terms and conditions for the use of the Safaricom services,” added Safaricom in a statement.

What can you do with your Bonga Points?
