The total contributions for both Employee and Employer are 2,160 shillings monthly.
Employers who have been complying with the NSSF Act No. 45 of 2013 Act should continue doing so, while those who are not should comply as advised.
The National Social and Security Fund (NSSF) has told employers to comply with the ruling of the Court of Appeal that sustained the NSSF Act No.45 effectively increasing the current contributions per person.
“Following the ruling of the Court of Appeal we are asking all employers to comply with the law with immediate effect. Employers who have been complying with the NSSF Act No. 45 of 2013 Act should continue doing so, while those who are not should comply as advised,” said NSSF in a statement.
According to NSSF, the rates to be implemented are as per the 1 st year of the Third Schedule of the NSSF Act No. 45 of 2013 as shown:
Tier 1: Employer Contribution (Ksh 360) Employee Contribution (Ksh 360)
Tier II: Employer Contribution (Ksh 720) Employee Contribution (Ksh 720)
The total contributions for both Employee and Employer are 2,160 shillings monthly. According to the NSSF Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr. Anthony Munyiri, this implies that Employers are required to remit the said member’s monthly contribution to the Fund by the 9th of every month.
