Dennis Itumbi, Cleophas Malala, Evans Kidero Among Top CAS Nominees

The list of Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) nominees is out. The position, which had been declared unconstitutional by the courts got a breather after the same court allowed the positions to fly hence settling the long-awaited anxiety.

The list, as expected is full of former politicians who were close to the ruling party, falling into place for those who said that the position was set to reward, former politicians and party loyalists. The CAS position is the same as that of a “Debuty CS.”

The functions of a CAS are not really clear given that the position is a political creation and not a constitutional one. Many Kenyans were against the creation of the position that is set to widen the wage bill for the said humans earn hefty salaries too.

Dennis Itumbi, a controversial blogger who has been a diehard of President William Ruto is on the list. It is not clear in what Ministry he will be posted if his nomination passes through but many are speculating that he might be placed in the Ministry of ICT.

Another notable name is that of Dr. Evans Kidero, a former Governor of Nairobi County and an unsuccessful candidate for the position of Governor for Homa Bay County. He was once a darling of Raila Odinga but parted ways during the nominations for the Homa Bay County gubernatorial position.

The Government of President William Ruto came to power with the promise of uplifting the lives of the common man and cutting down on political positions. But as it appears, in every election, there are people to be rewarded and that can only happen when the positions are available.
