A Weekend Full Of Golf As NCBA Golf Series Dominates Schedules

As the world continues with an “international break” in terms of football, NCBA Bank decided to make this weekend a “Golf Weekend” with two major events going down both in Kakamega County and in Nairobi County. It is going to be a weekend full of activities.

The major event of the NCBA Gold Series will take place at Karen Country Club in Nairobi this weekend. The lender is also sponsoring the Kenya Amature Golf Championship (KAGC) going down in Kakamega. KAGC enters its 11th leg at Kakamega Gold Club.

In Kakamega, the three-day action has already attracted about 60 top leading Amateurs sponsored by NCBA Bank and Skyward Express. This is one of the ongoing  26 series organized by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU).

The amateurs will be playing 18 holes in each of the three days to also earn points for the World Amateur Golf Ranking as well as contributing to the Kenya Amateur Golf Champion, and Club Trophy Rankings. They will play in the first two rounds after which the top 33 and ties will make the cut to the final round on Sunday.

At the same time, about 200 golfers are at Karen Country Club this Saturday for the 7th leg of the ongoing NCBA Gold Series. Winners of the overall gross, Men’s, Women’s, and Juniors’ categories will earn their place to take part in the highly-anticipated Grand Finale. The event comes shortly after the just-concluded sixth leg of the NCBA Golf Series held at VetLab Sports Club with 252 golfers battling it out.

“The NCBA Golf Series is not only about the sport of golf but also about building strong connections with our customers and the community. We are excited to witness the remarkable talent and sportsmanship on display as golfers compete for their place in the Grand Finale,” said Mr. John Gachora, the MD of NCBA Bank Kenya.

Mr. Gachora added that he was excited that the NCBA Golf Series was heading back to Karen Country Club which has a rich history and renowned golfing facilities that makes it the perfect setting for the tournament.

This year’s edition by NCBA has a total of 17 club qualifier events hosted at various gold clubs in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda. The action has already gone down in Railway Golf Club, Windsor Gold Club, Thika Sports Club, Kakamega Sports Club, and VetLab Sports Club.
