Equities Turnover Dips 71.0% To End The Day At Ksh 134.4Mn

Fixed Income Turnover soared by 563.9% to KES 5.17Bn up from KES 779Mn the previous trading day. The FXD bond segment was the highest-grossing segment of the day – accounting for c. 99% of trades above KES 50Mn.

Equities Turnover

Turnover declined by 71.0% to KES 134.4Mn down from KES 462.9Mn the previous trading day. Foreign investors were the dominant players on the day. They accounted for c. 56.4% of the total market turnover.

Foreign investors turned bullish on key blue chips to print net inflows of KES 29.8Mn in the day. Safaricom Group was the most traded counter on the day – accounting for 33.1% of the total market activity. The stock’s turnover came in at KES 44.5Mn – with net inflows amounting to KES 42.3Mn.

Exchange Rate Performance

  • USD|KES: KES weakened by 0.10% to close at 143.76 (-16.52% year-to-date).
  • GBP|KES: KES strengthened by 0.16% to close at 182.03 (-22.61% year-to-date).
  • EUR|KES: KES strengthened by 0.42% to close at 156.86 (-19.50% year-to-date).
