Equities Turnover Spike 276.8% As Local Investors Remail Dominant

Equity Group was the most traded counter on the day – accounting for 55.5 percent of the total market activity. The stock’s turnover came in at 67.9 million shillings -with net inflows amounting to 58.7 million shillings.

Equities turnover rose by 276.8 percent to 122.34 million shillings on Monday up from 32.7 million shillings the previous trading day.

Local investors remained the dominant players on the day. They accounted for c. 60.8 percent of the total market turnover. Foreign investors turned bullish on key blue chips to print net inflows of 59.7 million shillings in the day.

At the same time, Fixed Income Turnover declined by 11.5 percent to 3.65 billion shillings down from 4.12 billion shillings the previous trading day.

The IFB bond segment was the highest-grossing segment of the day – accounting for 82 percent of trades above 50 million shillings. IFB1/2023/007 was the single most traded paper of the day.
