Isaac Gitonga Bags The NCBA Golf Series In Kitale

The 12th NCBA Golf Series was held in Kitale this past weekend. The iconic event attracted 84 golfers who battled it out to see who will clinch the tournament’s top honors.

The golfers were aiming at securing a chance to play at the tournament’s Grand Finale, with qualifiers emerging in the overall gross, men’s gross, women’s gross, juniors’, and men’s and women’s net categories.

At the end of the day, Isaac Gitonga emerged as the overall winner with a score of 70 gross. He fended off stiff competition from Phillip Shiharsy who secured the top spot in the Men’s Gross category with an impressive score of 72 gross.

Claiming the runner-up position in the men’s category was John Thuo who carded an equally impressive 78 gross. Among the Ladies, Phylis Kisuna emerged champion, having carded a round of 93 gross. She beat Josephine Chesang who managed 105 gross to claim the second spot.

The Nett Categories saw Edwin Chessum emerge as the winner among the Men with a score of 71 net, while Josephine Njeri claimed the top spot among the women with a score of 75 net. In the Juniors category, Shelby Bungei showcased immense talent and emerged as the winner with a remarkable score of 108 gross.

Speaking during the event, NCBA Bank Kitale Branch Manager Gregory Florence said that part of the reason the bank was holding the golf series is to meet customers and clients, to understand their needs through interactions.

The action will now move to the Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort for the 13^th leg of the popular NCBA Gold Series.
