Why Does Kenya Power Hate Its Customers Down To The Last Man?

BY Juma · May 29, 2024 02:05 pm

I have never come across a company that treats its customers like trash as Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC). It is as though the company gives no damn to its customers who pay through the nose to access electricity. It is not a favor.

There is no doubt that Kenya Power enjoys a monopoly in Kenya. It has no competitors apart from solar panels which are highly regulated in favor of KPLC. They set their prices masked as if they emanate from the Energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

Despite all these “advantages”, these guys still make losses. That is not my problem. My problem is the continuous treatment of its loyal customers (who have no otherwise) like enemies and trash, showing them the middle finger with the utado attitude.

A great section of residents of Allsops (Naivas) along Outering Road, Lucky Summer, and Baba Dogo have been without electricity for four freaking days. Kenya Power has neither communicated nor given them any hope on the issue.

Word has it that one of their sub-stations at Baba Dogo blew up and that this has affected these areas. People in these affected areas have been complaining and crying. but Kenya Power seems to have forgotten them.

Why should Kenyans beg for the services that they are paying for? Why should Kenya Power continue abusing Kenyans as if they are receiving the services for free? We pay for these services. We pay a lot of money, most of which is deducted as taxes that make no sense.

This might sound like a rant but it is a cry of help. We are crying out to Kenya Power. Why do you hate your customers? Why are you so inconsiderate of people’s businesses and homes? Are you going to compensate them?
