During the Ruaka event, Absa Bank Kenya’s MD, Mr. Abdi Mohamed reiterated that: The bank serves all types of customers, from those who bank digitally to those who prefer visiting
a branch or using an agent. The growing agency network – Tupo Ulipo – is key to making banking easier for everyone.

Agency banking has also opened numerous entrepreneurial opportunities for Kenyans in satellite towns and rural areas, empowering them to become agents and, in turn, contribute to the economic growth of their communities.

“Bank agents used to be just for deposits and withdrawals, but now they offer much more. You can open bank accounts, repay loans, deposit into other bank accounts, pay rent, and even pay school fees,” says Victor Oduor, a financial analyst.
