Equity Group Dominates Monday As Most Traded Top-Mover, Accounting For 41.8% Of The Day’s Turnover

Equity Group was the day’s most traded top-mover on Monday, accounting for 41.8 percent of the day’s turnover. The counter edged up 0.1 percent to close the session at KES 43.25.

KCB Group and StanChart gained 1.5 and 0.4 percent to KES 32.90 and KES 211.75, respectively. EABL emerged as the day’s best-performing top mover, up 3.3 percent to KES 157.00, partly driven by foreign investor purchases. The counter’s KES 6.0 final dividend book closure was slated for today.

Bamburi Cement gained 2.8 percent to KES 82.00 whereas Safaricom rose 1.0 percent to KES 15.45 during the session. Kapchorua Tea was the day’s top gainer, up 9.9 percent to close at KES 246.25. On the other hand, TransCentury declined by 8.3 percent to KES 0.33 – closing as the session’s leading laggard.

At the same time, foreign investors were bullish in the session, with net inflows of USD 124.8k. EABL led the buying charge while Safaricom led the selling charge.

Overall, the market closed in the green, with the NASI and NSE 20 advancing 0.9 and 1.2 percent, respectively. The N10 and NSE 25 rose 1.0 percent each during the session.

Equity turnover contracted by 54.2% to close the session at USD 0.8m. Foreign investors dominated market activity, accounting for 60.6% of the day’s turnover levels, up from 32.3% in the prior session.
