Epson Hits 100 Million Ink Tank Printer Milestone
Global technology company Epson [Seiko Epson Corporation, TSE: 6724, “Epson”] announced that cumulative global sales of its high-capacity ink tank printers have exceeded 100 million units. Originally launched in Indonesia in October 2010, these pioneering printers are now sold in approximately 170 countries and regions, transforming printing solutions in offices and homes globally.
Epson’s high-capacity ink tank printers were initially developed in response to the demands of emerging economies, marking a significant shift in printer design and sales strategies. Since their introduction, Epson has disrupted traditional business models, establishing itself as the leader in the high-capacity ink tank printer market. Today, these printers represent nearly 45% of the units shipped in the global office and home inkjet printer sector, underscoring Epson’s sustained position as the market leader in this category.
Epson’s success stems from the widespread customer satisfaction with the innovative features of its high-capacity ink tank printers, including lower printing costs, reduced frequency of ink replacement, and a positive environmental impact. As environmental awareness grows, Epson’s printers continue to resonate with consumers who value the lower waste generation and minimized resource use associated with these devices.
Yoichi Yamada, Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Epson’s Office & Home Operations Division, said, “First of all, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has purchased our high-capacity ink tank printers. High-capacity ink tank printers are significantly different from conventional cartridge models in terms of design and sales, so we faced many challenges in creating them. However, with the desire to allow customers to print without hesitation, all involved parties came together and decided to release the product. Now, the values of high-capacity ink tank printers – low printing costs, minimal hassle with ink replacement, and low environmental impact – have led to their widespread acceptance around the world for use in everything from business to children’s learning. Going forward, we will continue to pursue and deliver the unique value that only Epson can provide through printing.”
“Epson’s commitment to innovation has fueled an incredible journey of growth for our high-capacity ink tank printers. We have achieved this milestone by listening to our customers and adapting to their needs, especially in emerging markets where cost-effectiveness and environmental sustainability are critical. As we celebrate 100 million units sold, we look forward to continuing to deliver products that make printing accessible, reliable, and environmentally conscious across diverse regions.” Added Epson, Regional Head for East and West Africa, Mukesh Bector.
