Ministry Of Education Announces New School Calendar For 2025

Following the recent completion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary School, KCSE, the government has announced nationwide schools reopening which will happen in the first week of January 2025 following the recent completion of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Education, all schools are set to reopen for the first term on January 6, 2025, and close on April 4 after 13 weeks of studies.

Additionally, students will then proceed for half term for five days, between February 26 to March 2. Students will resume studies are thereafter proceed for to first term holiday from April 7 to April 25.

In his announcement, Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang revealed that the second term would begin on April 28, during which students would study for 14 weeks before proceeding to the second term holidays on August 1, 2025

Students would be given a five-day half-term during the first term between June 25 and June 29. The learners then proceeded to the second term holiday for three weeks from August 4, to August 22.

Schools will close for the November and December holidays on October 24, the third term will begin on August 25 and last for only nine weeks. Additionally, the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) 2025 would then kick off on October 27 and last for four days up to October 30.

Students undertaking the Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) exams were expected to begin their test on October 27. The exams were expected to last for five days and end on October 31. The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) was scheduled to take place for three weeks between November 3 and November 21.

The KCSE 2024 exam started on October 22, where, 9,000 students sat for the exams and candidates took their oral and practical exams for the elective subjects.
