TSC Announces Dates For Retooling Of JSS Teachers

KEY POINTS

The teachers will be clustered as per the learning areas; English, Kiswahili/Kenya Sign Language (KSL), Mathematics, Religious Education, Social Studies (including Life Skills Education), Integrated Science (has Health Education), Pre-Technical Studies, Agriculture and Nutrition, Creative Arts and Sports.

The Teacher Service Commission, TSC, announces the retooling of all Junior Secondary School Teachers (JSS), which will be done at the sub-county level from 2nd to 5th December 2024.

The model of training will be a smart cascade and it will involve the training of Master trainers. The teachers will be trained in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Competency-Based Assessments (CBA).

During the verification exercise in the sub-counties the applicants shall be required to produce the following: –

A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from the TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher.

TSC closed the online application exercise on 4th November at midnight. The document verification exercise runs from 7th to 15th November 2024.

After verifying documents for the applicants, TSC will then require them to sign a one-year internship agreement before posting them to various schools in early January.

Requirements

  1. A copy of the Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from the TSC online portal as evidence of registration as a teacher
  2. A copy of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (where applicable)
  3. A copy of the National Identity Card (ID) or Passport
  4. Two (2) color passport size photographs
  5. A copy of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card
  6. A copy of the Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
