Spotify Wrapped Party – An Evening To celebrate Kenyan Music

Spotify recently hosted the much-anticipated Wrapped party in Nairobi, Kenya on the 8th of December. The event marked a moment to celebrate local artists and was attended by music enthusiasts, top social media influencers, notable Kenyan artists, media personalities, and friends of the Spotify brand in Kenya. The most-streamed hits, artists, and other groundbreaking achievements in the local music scene were highlighted at the event.
At the event were some of the artists from Spotify’s 2024 most-streamed artists list. Artists like Chris Kaiga, who made the top 10 list of local artists streamed on Spotify, and Lil Maina, who had an amazing year with the track ‘NAKAM SAI’ in collaboration with sosatheprodigy, were at the event. Other celebrated Kenyan artists who graced the event included Nadia Mukami, Arrow Bwoy, Naiboi, Blinky Bill, and Coster Ojwang, who also spent quality time with their fans, creating meaningful connections.
There were also performances from Njerae, Charisma, and SEAN MMG that dazzled the audience. It’s interesting to note that top fans of Njerae and Charisma received personalised messages for their Wrapped experience this year, a unique way to connect with their fans. Charisma’s song “SINA NOMA“, which ranks at number 17 on the most-streamed track in Kenya, and SEAN MMG’s track “Dance Ya Kudonjo” were hits performed at the Wrapped party. DJ Andy and DJ Redbone’s mix of Kenyan tracks kept guests dancing and having fun.
Key insights from Spotify Wrapped 2024 revealed the remarkable growth of Kenya’s local music scene:

93% growth in local music consumption, demonstrating the increasing love for homegrown music and talent.

The top most-repeated tracks on Spotify this year included Tiktoker by Gody Tennor, Kappy, Soundkraft, and Tipsy Gee, followed closely by NAKAM SAI by Lil Maina and sosatheprodigy, and Extra Pressure by Bensoul and Bien
Beyond the music and performances, the event was a dynamic celebration of Kenya’s creativity and passion for local sounds. Guests had fun engaging in interactive games, including quizzes about their top Spotify artists and tracks, adding a playful and personal touch to the program.
The event was held at Baobox, with the vibrant atmosphere providing a perfect backdrop for the energetic crowd. Guests left with a truly unforgettable experience and a deeper appreciation for Spotify’s impact on Kenyan music culture.
