TSC Set To Promote 28,288 Teachers This Year

The Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has announced plans to promote additional 28, 288 teachers across various grades this year. This move brings the total number of teachers promoted in the past two years to 59,792.

Speaking during the release of the 2024 KCSE exam results, TSC Chairperson Jamleck Muturi emphasized that the promotions reflect the commission’s ongoing commitment to recognizing and rewarding the hard work of educators.

“We encourage all eligible teachers to take advantage of this opportunity to advance their careers,” he said.

He attributed this to increased funding from the government. Muturi at the same time stated that the commission has prioritized capacity building and development for the teachers.

Mururi said that they have 229, 292 primary school teachers currently undergoing retooling and an additional 60, 000 junior secondary school teachers being trained.

“These programs ensure that our teachers are equipped with skills to effectively implement CBC and meet the diverse needs of our learners,” he said

According to KNEC, 965,512 candidates registered for the 2024 KCSE exams, marking a 7.19 percent increase, the highest since 2020.
