Safaricom To Sell 4GB At Ksh 4 Is Support Of Faith Kipyegon

Safaricom has introduced an exclusive data bundle to rally national support behind its brand ambassador and world-renowned middle-distance runner, Faith Kipyegon, as she aims to become the first woman to run a mile in under four minutes.

The special offer—a 4GB YouTube bundle for just Ksh. 4—will be available to customers on Thursday, 26th June 2025, coinciding with Kipyegon’s highly anticipated race at Stade Charléty in Paris, scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Kenyan time. Fans can activate the bundle by dialling *544#, enabling them to stream the event live on mobile devices or smart TVs.

“Faith continues to inspire the nation with her extraordinary talent and unwavering determination,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa. “This initiative allows Kenyans from all walks of life to witness a potentially historic sporting moment, together.”

Kipyegon, a double world record holder in the 1500m and 5000m, has been a Safaricom partner since 2023 when the telco celebrated her achievements with a Ksh. 2 million award and a massive KICC mural. In 2024, she became the face of Safaricom’s “Sisi Wote Ni Mabingwa” campaign, a celebration of Kenyan excellence.

Safaricom will also broadcast the race live at Baniyas Square in Eldoret, inviting fans to gather and cheer her on.

Faith Kipyegon is no stranger to rewriting history. It was on this very track during the 2023 “Meeting de Paris” Diamond League where she demolished the women’s 1,500-meter world record, clocking an awe-inspiring 3:49.04. Now, she returns with a different goal but the same fire — to become the first woman to break the four-minute barrier in the mile, a feat that has defied generations.

The challenge, dubbed the “Breaking4” project, was announced by Kipyegon in April, and since then, anticipation has been building across the athletics world. Speaking at a rare virtual media session ahead of the race, the 31-year-old shared the deeply personal journey that has led her to this defining moment in her career.
