Kenya Airways (KQ) has announced a new partnership with the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), solidifying its commitment to nurturing local talent and enhancing the sports ecosystem in Kenya by investing directly in elite athletes.
During a signing ceremony held at the KQ Headquarters, Chief Commercial & Customer Officer, Julius Thairu, highlighted the significance of the partnership stating, “This collaboration underscores our ongoing commitment to nurturing Kenyan talent, enhancing the local sports landscape, and aligning our brand with values of excellence, discipline, and ambition.”
The collaboration will see Kenya Airways proudly sponsor four outstanding professional golfers for the upcoming Equator Tour season including Isaiah Otuke, Jastas Madoya, Jacob Okello, and Dismas Indiza. These athletes have consistently demonstrated resilience, skill, and professionalism. Thairu expressed confidence in their ability to represent Kenya proudly and carry the KQ brand across the region.
“Our investment is a strategic contribution to their development and performance,” stated Thairu. “In today’s world, sports sponsorship is one of the fastest-growing avenues for brands to build meaningful engagement. Kenya Airways is committed to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with corporates in supporting the growth of our national sporting talent.”
Through this partnership, Kenya Airways will gain a strong presence across the Equator Tour while providing players access to top-level competitive platforms. Beyond financial support, the collaboration enables golfers to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and compete at events where consistency and excellence are paramount values that strongly mirror those of the airline.
Thairu highlighted that the initiative goes beyond sport, reinforcing the airline’s brand among high-value audiences, strengthening connections with customers and communities, and enhancing Kenya’s presence on the regional and global stage. “Aviation demands ambition, focus, and precision qualities that also define golf. This alignment is deliberate, making this partnership even more meaningful.”
He extended his gratitude to the teams that made the partnership possible, acknowledging the effort and coordination necessary to support such initiatives. Thairu encouraged the sponsored players to wear the Kenya Airways brand with pride, continue pushing their boundaries, and inspire the next generation of golfers.
“As Kenya Airways continues its commercial and customer transformation,” he added, “partnerships like this are central to building relevance, trust, and national pride. We are proud to walk this journey with the PGK and with each of you.”
