Cocoa Dreams continues to captivate audiences and inspire meaningful conversations following a successful series of screenings held across multiple weekends in Nairobi.

Since its initial Mother’s Day weekend launch, the film has brought together diverse audiences through a programme of screenings held on Mother’s Day weekend, 15th May, 16th May, 17th May, and most recently during the Madaraka Day weekend. Each screening has provided a platform for reflection and dialogue around themes of legacy, resilience, healing, identity, family, and generational transformation.

Produced and directed by filmmaker Jinna Mutune, Cocoa Dreams explores deeply personal and relatable stories that resonate across generations and communities. The film has attracted women leaders, entrepreneurs, creatives, professionals, families, and young audiences, all engaging with its powerful message and storytelling.

One of the highlights of the screening series was the Women Leaders Brunch and private screening held at Worknest Runda, which brought together women founders, business leaders, creatives, and professionals for meaningful conversations inspired by the film’s themes. The gathering featured a panel discussion exploring leadership, entrepreneurship, generational healing, cultural identity, and the role of women in shaping future generations.

“The stories in Cocoa Dreams reflect experiences that many people carry but rarely have the opportunity to discuss openly,” said Jinna Mutune, Director and Producer of Cocoa Dreams. “The response from audiences has been encouraging, with viewers connecting deeply to the themes of healing, resilience, identity, and the choices we make for future generations.”

Throughout the screening series, audiences have described the film as moving, thought-provoking, and affirming. Many have shared how the story encouraged conversations about family, personal growth, grief, forgiveness, and the importance of breaking cycles while preserving meaningful legacies.

The continued turnout and audience engagement demonstrate a growing appetite for authentic African stories that reflect lived experiences while speaking to universal human emotions and aspirations.

Cocoa Dreams has been powered by CcHUB in partnership with Africa No Filter, with support from the Gates Foundation.
