Savanna Uganda has announced its official entry into the mobile telecommunications sector, marking what the company describes as its most significant expansion yet as it seeks to transform connectivity in Uganda and position itself for regional growth, including future expansion into markets such as South Africa.

The company, which has built its reputation as a leading fixed broadband provider and a major player in Uganda’s Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) market, said it is now launching mobile services across Kampala and the Greater Kampala region with an ambitious unlimited voice and data proposition.

The move makes Savanna Uganda one of the newest Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in the region and signals a major shift in its business strategy from fixed broadband services to a fully integrated telecommunications provider.

Under the new model, customers will be able to add mobile SIM cards to their existing home or office fiber internet billing plans for an incremental fee, allowing them to access unlimited voice and data services under a single account.

The company said the offering is designed to provide households and businesses with a seamless connectivity experience by integrating fixed and mobile services into one platform.

Savanna Uganda Chief Executive Officer Alex Wanyoike described the launch as a milestone for both the company and the country’s digital transformation agenda.

“Today marks a transformative moment for Savanna Fibre Uganda and for the people and businesses we serve. We are proud to extend our robust fiber-driven customer model into mobile, delivering truly unlimited voice and data at an affordable incremental price,” said Wanyoike.

“By integrating SIMs with home and office fiber plans, we create a seamless, scalable, and dependable connectivity experience that empowers every footprint in our operating area. This launch accelerates Uganda’s digital adoption and sets a new standard for value, simplicity, and performance in Africa’s telecom landscape,” he added.

According to the company, the new service will initially cover Kampala and Greater Kampala before being rolled out to additional regions across Uganda. The firm also indicated that its long-term vision extends beyond Uganda, with plans to expand its telecommunications footprint into other African markets as it seeks to replicate its integrated connectivity model across the continent.

Industry observers view the launch as a significant development in Uganda’s telecommunications sector, particularly as demand for affordable high-speed internet and mobile data continues to grow among households, businesses and digital entrepreneurs.

Savanna Uganda said its expansion into mobile services reflects its commitment to driving digital inclusion by leveraging advanced technology to connect people, homes and businesses through affordable and reliable communication services.

The company believes the combination of unlimited mobile connectivity and its established fiber infrastructure will strengthen its competitive position while opening a new chapter in Africa’s evolving digital economy.
