Safaricom Hook Circle Empowers Students with Future-Ready Skills at Kiambu National Polytechnic

Safaricom, through its youth platform Safaricom Hook Circle, successfully hosted a two-day skills and career development programme at Kiambu National Polytechnic, bringing together students, industry leaders and learning partners to prepare young people for opportunities in the digital economy and beyond.

The event attracted students from the ICT and Automotive Engineering departments, who participated in hands-on training, mentorship sessions, career talks, technology demonstrations, and cultural engagements designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations. It also hosted general classes in Data Privacy and fraud as well as financial literacy.

Working alongside partners including Digi Farm, Power Learn Project (PLP) and other industry experts, the programme exposed students to emerging career opportunities, digital skills, innovation, agritech solutions, entrepreneurship and employability pathways.

Through engagements like this, we connect students with industry experts, practical learning experiences and mentorship that help bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace. The Kiambu National Polytechnic engagement forms part of the broader Safaricom Hook Circle programme which aims to help young people strengthen their employability and future career prospects.

The event also brought together stakeholders from the education and private sectors, reaffirming the importance of collaboration in equipping young people with relevant, market-driven skills that respond to the evolving needs of the workforce.

Since its inception in 2023, Safaricom Hook Circle has positively impacted over one million young people across Meru, Mombasa, Nairobi, Kakamega, Siaya and Nyeri counties. The programme continues to expand its reach as Safaricom works towards engaging young people across all 47 counties in Kenya.
