vivo Launches Y500 in Kenya with the Country’s Biggest Smartphone Battery and a Smarter Privacy Experience

vivo Kenya announced the launch of the new vivo Y500, bringing Kenya’s biggest smartphone battery to consumers looking for a phone that lasts longer, protects what matters and keeps up with everyday life.
The Y500 is built around one simple idea of helping people worry less about the small things that come with using a smartphone every day.
For many people, a smartphone is more than a way to make calls. It keeps them connected to family and friends, helps them run businesses, make payments, create content, study, work and capture important moments. The Y500 is designed to keep up with that everyday lifestyle, so users can spend less time worrying about their phone and more time focusing on what matters.
Leading the experience is the 8100mAh BlueVolt Battery, the largest battery currently available in a smartphone in Kenya. Built for people who rely on their phones throughout the day, it delivers long-lasting power for work, entertainment and everyday use without the constant need to recharge.
Battery life, however, is only part of the story.
Today’s smartphones carry much of our daily lives. They store private conversations, banking apps, family photos, work documents, passwords and personal information that many people would never want to lose or expose. As smartphones become more personal, protecting what is inside them has become just as important as keeping them powered.
That is why the vivo Y500 introduces a new Privacy System, giving users greater control over what stays private when sharing their phone with family, friends or colleagues. It is designed to help users protect their personal information while continuing to use their phone with confidence every day.
The Y500 also features a 1.5K High-Brightness AMOLED Display with up to 5,000 nits peak brightness, making it easy to view the screen even under direct sunlight. Whether replying to messages, following directions, watching videos or browsing social media outdoors, users can enjoy a clear and comfortable viewing experience in different lighting conditions.
Built to handle everyday life, the Y500 combines Military-Grade Protection with IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, giving users added confidence against accidental drops, dust, rain, spills and other unexpected moments that come with daily use. It also supports underwater photography, allowing users to capture moments even in challenging environments.
The vivo Y500 is available in Silk White and Midnight Blue, with two storage options: 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB.
The 6GB + 256GB variant is available from KES 44,999, while the 8GB + 256GB variant retails at KES 49,999 through authorized vivo stores and retail partners across Kenya.
Customers who participated in the World Cup-inspired pre-order campaign can now collect their devices and enjoy the exclusive offers that accompanied the campaign.
The vivo Y500 is now available nationwide.
