Faida’s Three-Decade Deal-Making Legacy Comes Into Focus With NCBA–Nedbank Mandate

Faida Investment Bank is once again at the centre of a major corporate finance transaction, having been appointed as Independent Financial Adviser to the NCBA Board in connection with the proposed Nedbank transaction.
The mandate comes at an important moment for East Africa’s financial sector as cross-border transactions continue to reshape the region’s banking and capital markets landscape. Faida’s role is to provide an independent opinion to the NCBA Board on whether the offer made by Nedbank is fair and reasonable to shareholders.
Established more than 31 years ago, Faida Investment Bank has developed a strong track record across mergers and acquisitions, valuations, capital raising, fairness opinions, transaction advisory and capital markets. Its experience spans listed companies, financial institutions, governments, development finance institutions and private-sector businesses.
That experience is reflected in some of the country’s most notable transactions. Faida has advised on the Safaricom PLC Initial Public Offering, valued at 50 billion shillings in 2008. Faida also played a central role in the Cooperative Bank of Kenya IPO the same year, as well as the KenGen Rights Issue of 28 billion shillings in 2016 and the Family Bank Corporate Bond of 10 billion shillings that same year.
More recently, the firm’s fingerprints can be found on some of the largest and most complex deals in the region, including the Kenya Pipeline Company Transaction Advisory mandate worth 106.5 billion shillings in 2026, the Acorn D REIT and I REIT commercial paper placements, and share buyback advisory work for both Nation Media Group and Centum Investments.
With other corporate clients such as Britam, the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development, I&M Bank Rwanda, Carbacid Investments, Crown Paints Kenya, Unga Group, KCB Bank and the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation, the brand stands out as one that has won the trust of giants.
The NCBA–Nedbank mandate fits naturally into a long-standing portfolio of transactions where independent financial advice can play an important role in helping boards, shareholders and other stakeholders navigate complex corporate decisions.
For Faida, the latest mandate adds another chapter to a legacy built around some of Kenya’s most consequential financial transactions. It also demonstrates how local investment banks continue to play an important role as African businesses become more interconnected and the region’s capital markets mature.
