NCBA Insurance Expands Business Protection as Kenyan SMEs Face Growing Risks

NCBA Insurance is strengthening business resilience across Kenya through its comprehensive Package SME Insurance solution, designed to help enterprises protect their assets, operations and future growth against an increasingly complex risk landscape.
As businesses navigate both traditional and emerging risks, insurance remains a critical tool for safeguarding investments, ensuring business continuity and enabling sustainable growth. Yet many Kenyan businesses remain underinsured, exposing themselves to potentially devastating financial losses arising from fire, theft, accidental damage, business interruption and rapidly growing cyber threats.
To address these challenges, NCBA Insurance offers a flexible Business Insurance solution tailored to businesses of all sizes, from small and medium enterprises to large corporates. Available from annual premiums starting at KES 15,000, the solution grows alongside businesses, providing relevant protection at every stage of their journey.
The cover provides protection of up to KES 1 billion, enabling businesses to safeguard buildings, machinery, equipment, stock, furniture, fixtures and other critical assets against a wide range of risks, including fire, burglary, accidental damage, political violence, terrorism, electronic equipment breakdown and business interruption.
Recognizing the evolving nature of business risk, NCBA Insurance also complements its SME Insurance offering with a broad suite of General Insurance solutions, including Cyber Insurance, Marine Insurance, Motor Insurance and Travel Insurance, ensuring businesses are protected against both physical and digital threats.
Speaking during an engagement with the company’s insurance agents in Nairobi, NCBA Insurance CEO and Managing Director, Stella Njung’e, emphasized the importance of business protection in driving confidence and long-term growth.
“Every business faces risks that can disrupt operations and reverse years of hard work. Having the right insurance protection enables business owners to focus on growing their enterprises with confidence, knowing they are prepared for the unexpected. Our goal is to provide businesses with solutions that protect their assets, support continuity and strengthen resilience as they grow,“ she said.
Recent industry research indicates that approximately 53% of small and growing businesses surveyed in Nairobi did not have active insurance cover, highlighting the need for increased awareness and access to business protection solutions.
To enhance access to these solutions, NCBA Insurance convened its agency network for a strategic engagement focused on deepening product knowledge, market insights and customer advisory capabilities. As trusted advisors to businesses across the country, insurance agents play a critical role in helping entrepreneurs understand their risk exposures and identify solutions that align with their needs.
“Agents are often the first point of contact for business owners seeking guidance on how to protect what they have built. By equipping you with the right knowledge and tools, we are ensuring more businesses can access expert advice and insurance solutions that enable them to operate and grow with confidence,” added Ms. Stella Njung’e.
The engagement forms part of NCBA Insurance’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its distribution network and expanding access to business protection solutions across Kenya. Through continued investment in agent empowerment, customer education and innovative insurance offerings, the company aims to support more businesses in building resilience, protecting their ambitions and achieving sustainable growth.
