NCBA Powers Growth of Kenya’s Transport Sector Through Partnerships and Innovation

NCBA has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of Kenya’s transport sector by bringing together transport entrepreneurs, PSV operators, SACCO leaders, fleet owners, motor vehicle dealers and other industry stakeholders at the Embu Transporters Forum.

The engagement comes as Kenya’s transport sector continues to play an important role in economic activity. According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the Transportation and Storage sector grew by 3.7 per cent in 2025, underscoring the continued importance of the sector to the economy.

Held under the theme “Powering Transport Enterprise Through Partnerships and Innovation,” the forum brought together approximately 180 participants from Embu and surrounding transport corridors including Embu Town, Mwea, Runyenjes, Kiritiri, Siakago, Ishiara and Kutus. The forum saw the participation from key transport groups including Neno, KETTNO and EEMO Saccos, alongside other regional transport associations.

The engagement builds on the success of NCBA’s 2025 Embu Transporters Forum and takes a broader approach to the transport ecosystem, bringing together different players across the value chain to explore opportunities for collaboration, business growth and sustainable enterprise development.

Speaking on the engagement, Dennis Njau, NCBA Group Director, Retail Banking, said the transport sector remains an important contributor to economic activity and requires financial partners who understand the realities and ambitions of transport entrepreneurs. “Transport businesses require more than vehicle financing. They need the right financial, insurance and transactional solutions to manage their operations, expand their fleets and build sustainable businesses. At NCBA, we are focused on providing solutions that respond to the evolving needs of transport entrepreneurs while building partnerships that support long-term growth,” he said.

During the forum, NCBA showcased its comprehensive transport proposition, spanning Asset Finance, Bancassurance, Transaction Banking through the Komiut payment solution, SME solutions, working capital solutions, Insurance Premium Financing, Vehicle Tracking Solutions and Everyday Banking Services.

The forum also provided an opportunity for participants to engage with NCBA experts and strategic partners through panel discussions, customer experiences, product exhibitions and motor dealer showcases.

The discussions explored how stronger collaboration between financial institutions, transport SACCOs, dealers, insurers and operators can help transport businesses improve operational efficiency, modernise fleets and respond to an evolving mobility landscape.

The forum also highlighted NCBA’s revamped PSV financing proposition, designed to support SACCOs, fleet owners and individual operators as they seek to grow their businesses.

Beyond financing, NCBA continues to support transport entrepreneurs through sector-focused banking solutions that address business needs across the transport value chain. The approach reflects the Bank’s broader commitment to supporting SMEs through practical, customer-centric solutions that enable businesses to grow and contribute to economic development.
