Why Smarter Banking Starts with Changing Everyday Habits

Have you ever found yourself Googling Google? Not Google Kenya. Not Google Search. Just… Google.
It sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud. Yet somehow, we’ve all done it. We open a browser, head to Google, and ask Google to help us find… Google.
It’s the same energy that has us searching the whole house for glasses already sitting on our heads. Or calling our own phone from someone else’s handset, only to discover it has been in our pocket the entire time.
We laugh because these moments are so wonderfully human. They are normal habits.
The funny thing about habits is that they quietly convince us the longer route is the normal one. We stop questioning them, even when the simpler option has been right in front of us all along.
Banking is no different.
How many of us transfer money from our bank account to a mobile wallet before paying a merchant, even when we could have paid the merchant directly? Queue to buy KPLC tokens instead of purchasing them in seconds? Withdraw cash to settle bills that could have been paid digitally? Or move from one payment channel to another to complete what is really just one transaction?
Not because we have to. Because that’s how we’ve always done it.
It’s easy to laugh at ourselves when we Google Google or search for glasses already sitting on our heads. But when it comes to banking, we rarely realise we’re doing something similar, taking the longer route simply because it’s become a habit.
It just makes common cents choose the simpler way.
Its not that digital banking is new. It’s that many of us are still banking as though it isn’t.
Today, the KCB Mobile Banking App makes it possible to pay bills, purchase KPLC tokens, pay merchants directly, access eCitizen services, make KRA payments, and complete many other everyday transactions from one platform.
Sometimes the smartest financial decision isn’t opening another app, making another transfer, or taking another step.
Sometimes it’s simply recognizing that the easiest route has been in your pocket the whole time.
Because It Just Makes Common Cents!
