Jumia Launches Affiliate Program to Help Creators and Everyday Kenyans Earn Online

E-commerce giant Jumia has launched a new Affiliate Program aimed at enabling content creators, micro-influencers, students, entrepreneurs, and everyday shoppers to earn income by promoting products available on its platform.
The initiative forms part of Jumia’s broader strategy to expand digital entrepreneurship opportunities while driving greater awareness of products and brands available through its marketplace.
Under the program, participants earn commissions when customers make purchases through their referral links, creating new income opportunities within Kenya’s growing creator economy.
The company says early uptake has been encouraging, with 157 J-Force agents already active under the initiative and more than 100 creators and customers currently in the onboarding pipeline.
“We are seeing increasing interest from Kenyans looking for flexible ways to generate additional income online. The Affiliate Program allows them to leverage their networks, content and influence while connecting consumers to products they care about,” a company representative said.
To accelerate adoption, Jumia has introduced launch incentives including double creator bonuses for the first month and introductory KSh 50 vouchers for new customers.
The launch also coincides with Jumia’s efforts to attract a broader customer base through an expansion of premium brand partnerships. The company says it is introducing more aspirational and high-end brands to meet rising demand from value-conscious but quality-seeking consumers.
The strategy reflects evolving consumer preferences, with shoppers increasingly looking for trusted brands, competitive pricing and convenience through digital channels.
Beyond driving sales, the affiliate initiative is expected to support small-scale digital entrepreneurs by enabling individuals to build income streams without significant upfront investment.
The announcement comes ahead of the Black Friday shopping season, one of the busiest periods for online retail, during which Jumia expects heightened participation from both creators and shoppers.
Industry observers say affiliate marketing continues to gain traction globally as brands seek more authentic ways to engage consumers through trusted voices and community-driven recommendations.
For Jumia, the program represents an opportunity to deepen engagement with local communities while reinforcing its position as one of Africa’s leading e-commerce platforms.
