TSC Re-Advertises 1,631 Teacher Promotion Positions, Sets New Application Deadline

Teachers hoping to move up the ranks have another shot at it as the Teachers Service Commission, TSC, re-advertised 1,631 promotional vacancies, giving serving educators a fresh chance to step into leadership positions in public primary and secondary schools.

The fresh notice went out on September 1, 2026, and is open to any serving teacher who meets the requirements set out in the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers.

The bulk of the openings, 1,470 in total, are for Deputy Headteacher II positions on Grade C4, T-Scale 9, making this by far the biggest category on offer and the one most primary school teachers eyeing administration will be watching closely.

At the secondary level, TSC has set aside 132 slots for Deputy Principal III (Grade D1, T-Scale 11) and a further 29 for Senior Master II, also on Grade D1, T-Scale 11.

Teachers wanting in on this round have until midnight on Monday, September 14, 2026, to get their applications submitted, and it has to be done online, through the Commission’s recruitment portal. TSC was blunt about this: manual applications won’t be entertained this time.

Anyone applying is being urged to double-check their eligibility first and make sure their online profile is current before hitting submit. One thing worth noting for teachers who already applied under the earlier advertisement for these same positions, if that application went through successfully, there’s no need to reapply.

TSC has made clear that successful candidates won’t necessarily stay put. Promotions will be tied to wherever the advertised vacancy actually exists, which means some teachers could find themselves posted to a completely different school or institution once they move up.

This latest round comes hot on the heels of a much bigger recruitment exercise the Commission just wrapped up, one covering 34,016 positions spread across various cadres in primary schools, secondary schools and teacher training colleges. Applications for that exercise closed back on August 10.

For teachers who missed out on that larger drive, or simply want another crack at career progression, this re-advertisement offers a second window into school leadership and management roles.
